Digital Equalizer Way of Teaching (DEWoT)

The Digital Equalizer (DE) program is the AIF's flagship education program. It strives to bridge the digital divide by providing computers, Internet access and training to improve learning and critical thinking amongst under -served students.

DE Cornerstones

DEWoT

Student Engagement
Students who are engaged in their work are drive by four essential goals, each of which satisfies a particular human need: the need for mastery, understanding, originality, relationships. Under the right classroom conditions and at the right level for each students, teachers can build the motivation and energy as teachers would be exposed to issues like Multiple Intelligence, Brains Based Mapping, Collaborative Learning, Classroom Management and feedback. (ice-breaks, activities, physical movement etc.)

Technology Integration
Leveraging available technology tools and aids helps to create a powerful and dynamic teaching- learning process. Technology should not be treated in a standalone manner but integrated into the lesson plan. Technology used appropriately can really help in mastering the concepts and understanding of the subject again linked to Student Engagement. No separate lab would be required but a simple Laptop and a Projector is sufficient to integrate.

Project Based Learning (PBL)
Curriculum supplements can aid a teacher to bring in favorable elements in the classroom. It can directly impact the student with minimal thrust from the teacher. The PBL kit can contain all the materials required for the teacher to bring in PBL into the classroom topic.

Reflection
Reflection about oneself is recommended as a very critical element in the education process. The DE Way of Teaching would ensure that opportunities are created in the classroom for reflecting on the various concepts, applications and examples and ensure that learning happens.

Cornerstone: Exercise
